Robert’s Gesti by Berio an ‘extraordinary accomplishment’

Robert’s Gesti by Berio an ‘extraordinary accomplishment’

The Scroll Ensemble‘s programme Grand Tour includes one of my favourite pieces ever: Luciano Berio’s Gesti. In “Zeewolde Actueel” our concert was very positively reviewed including this lovely comment:

“Een bijzondere prestatie leverde Robert de Bree met zijn vertolking van “Gesti”, een werk van de Italiaan Luciano Berio (1925-2003)”

This June 10-12 in MOOOV (The Hague, NL) I am very excited to be performing the show “Etudes” for Opera2Day. It’s a show made based on Willy Verkuil’s “The Art of Performing”, with whom we worked for almost a year now to prepare for this show!
A special show based on exercises to become more aware of the body which leads it to be a unique show in which neither text, nor music, nor movement plays a main role. I invite you to find YOUR story!

Also, I am excited to have my composition “Scoop” premiered at this show!

More information and tickets can be found here.

Teaching at the Stephen Pearse Foundation School

Teaching at the Stephen Pearse Foundation School

A while back I worked with wonderful and inspiring students in Cambridge on some contemporary recorder repertoire. We looked into improvisation, techniques and then keyed in to Shinohara’s Fragmente and Linde’s Music for a Bird specifically.
Students performed their own compositions as well as a group improvisation. Get in touch with me if you are interested in a workshop on improvisation, contemporary music, ensemble playing and more!

New CD-recordings

Recently I have been working on two CD-recordings with BON and with Klaartje van Veldhoven. The former includes Vivaldi’s oboe solo in the Gloria in D and the latter includes several wonderful arias by J. S. Bach for soprano, oboe and strings.
